Poem created in response to Robert Lee Brewer’s Wednesday Poetry Prompt 207, 23 January 2013. Topic: fragile
(form: nonet)
Generation “Look At Me”
A generation of narcissists
who expect us to approve of
childish antics, indulge whims,
and believe the facades
of strength, behind which
dwell their egos,
more fragile
than an
egg.
[had to revise from the original because I couldn't recall the form name before I had posted it. I found the form shortly afterward and had to drop the ten syllable line]
(original – as posted to the Poetic Asides blog)
We have now the generation of
the pampered narcissist who expects
the rest of us to approve of
childish antics, indulge whims,
and believe the facade
of strength, behind which
dwells an ego
more fragile
than an
egg.

I couldn’t agree with your analysis more, Rob.
