Poem: Jaws of Life

A quick little poem posted in response to Robert Lee Brewer’s Wednesday Poetry Prompt #108 back on 30 September 2010.

Jaws of Life

Trapped,
pinned,
flashes of light,
rain pours down,
the roar is deafening.
Shrieking,
snapping,
tearing,
the jaws come at me
again,
    again,
        again.
Time speeding by,
going slow,
everything is blurry,
all is red.
Shrieking,
snapping,
tearing,
the jaws come at me
again,
    again,
        again.
Cold creeping in,
the roar now an echo,
fading to black.
Shrieking,
snapping,
tearing,
the jaws come for me
once more.
