Poem: No Rest for the (not so) Wicked

Poem created in response to Robert Lee Brewer’s Wednesday Poetry Prompt #115, 22 Dec 2010.

This is my first shot at a Triolet. I think using the form helped me focus my thoughts on this one.  I’m not sure how Rachel Ray spells her signature word ‘dee-lish’, but I used it.

No Rest for the (not so) Wicked

There are never enough hours to accomplish
relaxing and unwinding during the holidays,
though it may be one’s only Christmas wish.
There are never enough hours to accomplish
savoring the libations and grub so ‘dee-lish’
at the requisite family and friends’ soirees.
There are never enough hours to accomplish
relaxing and unwinding during the holidays.
