Poem: The Cold Lingers

Poem created in response to Robert Lee Brewer’s 2011 April PAD Challenge: Day 5, 5 Apr 2011.

The Cold Lingers

Spring, season of rebirth,

itself, to bring warmth,
life to the world, but
Winter refuses to yield.
Stark white fingers lose
their grip, their strength
waning as Winter’s heart
melts slowly, ever so slowly,
and the cold lingers on…

I don’t even attempt to write poetry, nor can I pretend to understand the proper way to evaluate it. So can I just say this is beautiful? It is.

    🙂

Thank you. That’s how I evaluate a poem…if it moves me in some way.
