Beyond The Dark Room

cover of Beyond The Dark RoomBack in February of this year, I was invited by the editor of this book to join a group of poets in creating a collection of poetry that describes the range of emotions humans go through when faced with trauma, be it physical or emotional or both.

I jumped at the chance and discussed my feelings on being invited on my other blog with a post titled Those “Oh, Wow!” Moments.

Beyond The Dark Room: An International Collection of Transformative Poetry was published on August 27th.  Each chapter’s poems deal with an emotion or state of being in dealing with and recovering from a traumatic experience.  Some of the chapters are Anger, Depression, Calm, and Trust.

The book is available from Amazon.com and the royalties go to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders.

I just added this book to Goodreads and added a short review:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This collection of poetry runs the gamut of emotions human beings experience in dealing with trauma and life altering events. Many of the poems are hard-hitting and blunt while others are more subtle in describing the anger, shock, and pain people deal with, but other poems in the book also deal with the emotions of love and trust, of regaining confidence, and moving beyond…emerging from the “dark room”.

Nicely done Rob – I think I’ll try and post the same type of thing on my own blog(s).
