Poem: Empty My Head

Poems created in response to Poetic Bloomings’ In-Form Poet Wednesday – Rondelet, 5 December 2012.

I came up with the title thinking about how my head has been stuffed up with sinus congestion for over a week.  As I started working on the Rondelet, emptying my head of thought found its way into the poem.  I was having difficulty working both ideas into one poem, so I split it into two.

Empty My Head

Empty my head.
I can feel the pressure growing.
Empty my head.
Capture all my good thoughts. I dread
their loss more than the unknowing,
than the idea it’s going
empty, my head.

Empty my head.
I can feel the pressure growing.
Empty my head
of all the snot.  My nose is red
from the sneezing and the blowing,
but it seems not to be going
empty, my head.
