Poem: The Downward Spiral, revisted

Poem created in response to Robert Lee Brewer’s Wednesday Poetry Prompt 212, 27 February 2013.  Topic: descending

The Downward Spiral

(form: fibonacci)

The
end
started
with harmless,
trivial stuff, but
soon he was driving for hours
trying to find his way home.  He couldn’t remember
his friends or his family, and,
before long, he failed
to respond
to his
own
name.

NOTE:  I initially wrote this poem (linked here) in Nonet form earlier today.  As I was posting it, I wondered if it would work better as a Fibonacci, with the rise from small lines to the longer line in the middle and then descending back down to the one syllable lines.  I think I like the Nonet better.  Having eight fewer syllables makes the poem a bit tighter and, after writing this one, I like the look of only having the dwindling line length.
