Teaser Tuesday: Riverrun (The Riverrun Trilogy, book 1) (again)

Teaser Tuesday post for 1 March 2016
from Riverrun (The Riverrun Trilogy, book 1) by S.P. Somtow

My first day at work: there's a whole fleet of Thorn's shops, triremes, longboats, galleons, all of them with gargoyle prows and black sails and ghoulish crews, but I'm riding in the flagship of them all, sitting at the right hand of Mr. Death himself, with a three-headed dog yapping at my heels and Cornelius Huang making his conch sing somber music.

I'm standing right by the prow with the marble in my hand and I guess I'm kind of piloting, even though this path is so well worn that the fleet meets no resistance from the reality stream.

Teaser Tuesday logoTeaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB (Jenn) at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:• Grab your current read • Open to a random page • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Interesting! Definitely first person narration, isn’t it? My teaser this week comes from Dragon’s Fire by Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey. I’m trying to finish this series by reading the books I missed when they were new. Happy reading!

It’s actually first person from a handful of characters. A bit disjointed for my taste, but I’m soldiering on through it.
