A Memorable Engagement

Poem created in response to Poetic Bloomings’ PROMPT #282 – HOPPER INSPIRED on 16 Feb 2020.

Form prompt: Fibonacci

A Memorable Engagement

I
thought
it odd,
John asking
me out for a show.
We don’t often go when he’s not
on stage. Now, I’ve got butterflies and he’s so nervous,
checking his pocket, making sure
something is still there,
but why go
into
that
Booth?

Poem: A Shell Collecting

Poem created in response to Poetic Bloomings’ “Life is a Beach” Gauntlet.

beachDay 17, July 17th

Prompt: Put Into Words (Ekphrasis)

A Shell Collecting

She walks the beach collecting shells
devoid of the life they once held.
Trudging daily through ebbs and swells,
she walks the beach collecting shells-
catharsis for the pain that dwells
within her heart, who’s fire’s been quelled.
She walks the beach collecting shells,
devoid of the life she once held.

**Poetic Bloomings has In-Form Wednesdays.  This week is Ekphrasis.

Poem: The Skies Clear Over Heidelberg

Sunset on Heidelberg

The Skies Clear Over Heidelberg

The dark clouds break off,
cleansing waters giving way
to the evening sun
bathing the tranquil berg in
the warmth of its golden light.

Based on the comments on this photo on Heidelberg City‘s Facebook page, I think this is an evening sunset.  In my initial reaction to the photo, I used the word ‘morning’ instead of ‘evening’.  Luckily, both have two syllables and it was easy enough to swap.  The poetic form for this Ekphrastic poem is the tanka.
